The press conference was broadcast live on Trump’s Facebook page.

Each woman delivered prepared remarks. Some Republicans have even called on Trump to abandon his run, although Trump has pledged to carry on. If Pence did not show up, it will likely act as an indicator that voters and political insiders alike are hoping for more than a half-apology from the presidential candidate. “When you talk about apology, I think the one that you should really be apologizing for and the thing that you should be apologizing for are the 33,000 emails that you deleted and that you acid-washed”, he said.

Tonight is definitely going to be interesting. Hard to say who won that round. “I don’t think there’s any comparison”, Broaddrick said.

The Clinton campaign released a statement responding to what it characterized as a “stunt”. Clinton told bankers behind closed doors that she favoured “open trade”. Staring icily at her Republican rival, Clinton said Trump’s own aggressively vulgar comments about women had revealed “exactly who he is”. Co-moderators Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz were responsible for keeping the candidates to their 2-minutes-per-question time limit, keeping outbursts to a minimum, letting undecided voters ask questions and asking their own follow-up questions in the town hall-style debate.

Election law experts suggest it would be logistically impossible to replace Trump on the ballot altogether, with early voting underway in some states and overseas ballots already distributed to military servicemen and others. In 1999, Broaddrick claimed Clinton raped her in 1978, an allegation he denied.

Ms Broderick’s allegations have been around since 1992, when Mr Clinton first ran for president.

The debate got personal fast, and issues seemed to slip behind Trump and Clinton’s personal attacks, leaving viewers disturbed.

“Yesterday’s Trump video contained a conversation all women have heard before”, Oxford said, adding that she felt “shame” when Billy Bush laughed at Trump’s description of grabbing women “by the pussy” – or when Trump said “it looks good” about a woman they saw on the studio lot.

Ahead of the debate, the businessman met with three women who accused the former president of sexual harassment and even rape, then invited them to sit in the debate hall.

“I respect that”, Trump said. Obama said “it tells you that he’s insecure enough that he pumps himself up by putting other people down”.

The Clintons’ conduct, Trump alleges, amounts to abuse. Some pushed for Mr Trump’s vice-presidential running mate Mike Pence to move to the top of the ticket.

A growing number of Republican lawmakers have pulled their support from the nominee in response to the tape.

Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, Ohio Sen.

Denunciations Some of the strongest denunciations came from senators locked in tough re-election battles such as Kirk and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire. “Across the board for I don’t know how many years”.

All of the women expressed their support for Trump at the conference.

The crisis has put the Republican National Committee in a tight spot with less than a month to go until Election Day.

Trump has been beating back criticism since Friday of hot-mic comments he made in 2005, bragging about trying to bed a married woman and about groping women since he became a celebrity. “You can do anything”. He said of his impulse to kiss handsome women: “I don’t even wait”.
