Trump Immigration Plan Gets Backlash From Latino Supporters

Trump received backlash last summer for calling Mexican immigrants “rapists” and criminals in his speech announcing he was running for president.

De Blasio also says an estimated half million New Yorkers would be affected by a mass deportation. The slogan is apparently meant to symbolize his changed stance on Mexico.

He jetted over the border to make nice with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. It was only after he was back on American soil that he said, “They are great people, great leaders, but they are going to pay for the wall”.

Mr Trump is yet to respond to President Pena Nieto’s tweet.

“Applicants will be asked for their views about honor killings, about respect for women and gays and minorities”, Trump said.

Part of Trump’s rhetoric has been, all along, that he would make Mexico pay for it.

Aguilar said he opposed the policies of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton but he was withdrawing support for Trump. “They’re gonna talk a good game but when the chips are down – [when] it’s the point where if you’ve got an opinion, if something matters to you, you say it – they fold like an accordion”.

Trump did back away from his previous vow to round up and deport all 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the US.

Since Trump delivered his long-awaited speech in Phoenix on Wednesday, at least four members of his Hispanic Advisory Council has resigned in disappointment.

Some die-hard Trump supporters had criticized Trump in recent weeks for moderating his immigration policies.

But the real conflict started when the pair took a few questions from the press and Trump said that his infamous border wall was discussed, yet he said they didn’t discuss who would pay for it.

“The proposal to build the wall, and to believe that Mexico could and would pay for it, is outrageous”, presidential spokesman Eduardo Sanchez told local radio, after Trump’s rapid, impromptu visit to Mexico on Wednesday.

“Donald Trump.is unqualified and lacks the temperament to lead our great and diverse country”.

Later in Phoenix, Trump said: “We will issue detainers for illegal immigrants who are arrested for any crime whatsoever and they will be placed into immediate removal proceedings”.

Anthony Salvia was Special Advisor to the US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs under President Ronald Reagan, director of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Moscow bureau and is a partner at Global Strategic Communications Group.

Mr Trump repeated comments he made in the immigration speech when he tweeted: “Mexico will pay for the wall!”.

Wisely, he did not do this speech before his trip to Mexico, because I can promise you probably would have ended a little bit differently for him, but this campaign has gotten so sick and disgusting with this fear, this hatred of immigrants.
