Trump in ‘excellent physical health’, doctor says

The Republican presidential candidate’s appearance on The Dr Oz Show, a daily medical talk show hosted by cardiothoracic surgeon Mehmet Oz, was a piece of carefully choreographed political theatre.

While the note provides much more information about Trump’s health than a previous letter from Bornstein, it does not constitute his full medical records.

When he looks in the mirror, Trump told Oz, he sees a 35-year-old man.

Donald Trump, a master showman, surprised the “Dr. Oz Show” studio audience on Wednesday by revealing the results of a recent physical exam.

Nonetheless, Democrats have tried to make an issue of Trump’s health and taxes after Mrs. Clinton collapsed and the campaign was caught lying about after a video surfaced on Twitter showing the event. If Trump is elected in November, he would be the oldest person to be sworn in as president.

Trump’s campaign said the examination, with his longtime doctor Harold N. Bornstein, took place September 9. He said he hasn’t stayed in a hospital since he had his appendix removed when he was 11.

Clinton’s doctor, Lisa Bardack, said the Democrat was on the mend from her bout of mild, non-contagious bacterial pneumonia.

“If they were bad, I would say, ‘let’s sort of skip this, right?'” Trump said.

Trump said he had not previously released his personal medical information because he didn’t think it was necessary.

He says Mr Trump weighs 236 pounds and is six feet three inches tall, which the candidate earlier admitted made him overweight for his height.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is “in excellent physical health”, his doctor of 36 years said in a letter published Thursday. His blood tests show a cholesterol level of 169, with his level of high-density lipoproteins at 63, his low-density lipoproteins at 94, and a blood pressure rate that is 116 over 70. His latest chest X-ray and electrocardiogram were performed April 16 and were normal, according to Bornstein. The cholesterol, I think, is quite good.

In discussing his campaign positions, Trump told Oz that women should be able to obtain birth control without a prescription. Oz said that Trump’s doctor found him to be overweight and revealed he takes a statin medication, a drug often used to lower cholesterol. The one-page letter simply attested to Trump’s general health. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s body mass index calculator, the presidential hopeful scores a 29.5, half a point away from the measurement’s obese category.
