Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump has introduced Mike Pence as his running mate, calling the IN governor his “first choice”.

Trump called Pence a man of character, honor and honesty. TRUMP: I love what he just said.
He then announced the choice on Twitter, though the presentation event was postponed a day after the terror attack in Nice.
“They got crushed”, Trump said moments after praising party unity.
Newt Gingrich, a former speaker of the House, and Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey were also finalists, and both men have closer personal ties to Trump.
“What a difference between crooked Hillary Clinton and Mike Pence”, Trump said, contrasting Clinton’s email debacle with “real Republican leadership” in Pence, particularly a decrease in Indiana’s unemployment rates since Pence took office.
“Hillary Clinton must never become President”, Pence said – showing of his attack skills which likely made him a favorite of Trump.
“He fights for the people, and he’s going to fight for you”.
In foreign policy, Trump would lead from strength, Pence said and added, “He will rebuild the arsenal of democracy, stand with our allies and hunt down and destroy the enemies of our freedom”. At the time, Pence endorsed Ted Cruz, but he was visibly reluctant to throw his support behind Cruz.

Manafort, whose late father was a three-term Republican mayor in Democratic-dominated New Britain, serves as the campaign chairman and chief strategist for Republican Donald J. Trump. Trump addressed his reasons for picking Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate and also spoke on issues concerning jobs, border security and Hilary Clinton.
Governor Pence balanced the budget, produced a surplus, and maintains a two billion dollar reserve fund. Pence enacted the largest income tax cut in the state’s history.
Pence also has been an advocate of trade agreements that Trump has opposed.
“And one of the reasons is party unity, so many people have said, party unity”.
But Pence on Sunday said he was fine with Trump’s style of campaigning.
Some Democrats looked down upon the selection.
They say Pence’s reliability is enough to make them confident marking the ballot this November to send Trump to the White House.
Clinton’s team was already painting Pence’s conservative social viewpoints as out of step with the mainstream.
Trump described meeting with Pence’s family, including his wife and daughter, as part of the motivation for selecting him as a running mate.
