Trump also suggested Khan’s wife was not allowed to speak because the couple is Muslim, and that it was the candidate’s position on keeping terrorists out of the country that bothered Khan.

Bondi, who endorsed Trump before the primary and has campaigned with him in Tampa, said she’s in favor of vetting immigrants and a “safe immigration policy” but wouldn’t criticize Captain Khan or his mother.

“We all say we’re in a club that no one wanted to join”, Meredith said, referring to the Gold Star military families who have all lost a loved one in war.

“The suicide bomber, striking prematurely, claimed the life of Captain Khan-and Captain Khan, through his selfless action and sacrifice, saved the lives of hundreds of his brothers and sisters”, he said.

On Sunday, Roger Stone, a former Trump adviser, tweeted that Khizr Khan is an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood who is “helping Hillary”. Khizr spoke Thursday, the last night of the Democratic National Convention.

Senator Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., whose husband is a veteran of the Iraq war, also condemned Trump’s remarks, according to The New York Times, saying that she was left “appalled” by them.

“The total silence of so many House Republicans in the wake of Trump’s attack on the Gold Star Khan family dramatically fails on both counts, ” said ” said Meredith Kelly of the DCCC on Wednesday”.

“People deal very differently with grief”, said Saldivar.

“Ours is a sacrifice you will never know”, the families say in the letter, which was posted Monday on the VoteVets.org website. She had nothing to say.

Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, Monday in a written statement strongly condemned Trump’s statement about the Khan family.

Trump has not yet apologized to the Khans, but on Twitter said the real issue is the growing threat of Islamic terrorism.
