Trump lawyer plays down likelihood he will talk to Mueller under oath
The special counsel’s office is also investigating potential obstruction of justice, and has questioned the attorney general, Jeff Sessions, in part to discuss the president’s decision to fire James Comey as Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

There are actually multiple ongoing investigations into Russia’s election meddling and possible collusion with Trump associates.
“Did Hillary do it under oath?”
“I would do it under oath”, Trump added, as quoted by The Hill.
But the president’s argument misses a key point.
The Times reported on Tuesday that Mueller’s team had told Trump’s lawyers it hoped to ask the president about his firing of former FBI Director James Comey and his employment of Michael Flynn, his former national security adviser.
The overview Trump’s lawyers released Thursday said 20 White House staffers, including eight from the White House counsel’s office, sat for voluntary interviews with investigators as part of what the lawyers said is an “unprecedented” attempt at cooperation with the myriad investigations into potential coordination between Trump’s associates and Russian Federation to influence the 2016 USA election.
Although this is not the first time Trump has made such a promise, as he vowed something similar a year ago in June, his statement still appeared to surprise his legal team – and not in a positive way.
Mr. Mueller has already interviewed several of the close aides and family members of Mr. Trump over the issue. He has called the investigation a “witch hunt” and has described it as a “cloud” over his presidency.
Meantime, the back-and-forth about what format a presidential interview would take continues.
Session’s decision drew the ire of Trump, who said he’d never have picked Sessions as his attorney general had he known Sessions would recuse himself.
And then there’s the news that Donald Trump asked then-acting director Andrew McCabe who he voted for in the 2016 election and criticized his wife for being affiliated with the Democratic Party, according to The Washington Post. Ms. Sanders said Mr. Trump wants the controversy to come to an end.

“Certainly I’ll see what happens”, he said during a news conference following a bilateral meeting with Norway’s prime minister, Erna Solberg. “No, I don’t think I did”. “I don’t know what’s the big deal with that. I will tell you that”. But that defense won’t fly when Bannon sits down with Mueller’s team, experts say, and he will likely have to answer questions about his time on the transition as well as in the White House. The US president has previously dodged questions as to whether he would participate in the investigation into his campaign’s alleged “collusion” with Russian Federation, a claim he has repeatedly denied.
