Key Democrats are seeking to put out the document, including the Senate’s Democratic leader, Chuck Schumer of NY, who urged Trump to back the public release and said that refusing to do so would show the president’s intent to undermine the Russian Federation investigation.
Meanwhile, Democrats and other observers, including a number of former law enforcement and intelligence officials, say the memo is just a misleading partisan document meant to undermine the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and the allegations that the Trump campaign was involved with those efforts.
The committee rejected that move last week, with one Republican member saying revisions were needed so the memo would not endanger national security.
Mr Schumer argued “that the American people be allowed to see both sides of the argument and make their own judgements”. An official said on Sunday that the White House was open to releasing it pending an examination to protect intelligence sources and methods.
However, the Republican president attacked its author Mr Schiff publicly on Monday. So given what we now know about the contents of this memo, were those claims legitimate?
President Donald Trump said on Saturday that a partisan memo released by House Republicans “totally vindicates” him in the investigation into Russian election interference, complaining that the “witch hunt” would go “on and on” even though there had been no collusion or obstruction of justice.

Cutting against Comey’s credibility is his outrage that the memo “inexcusably exposed classified investigation of an American citizen”, given that the FBI’s spying on Page has been reported to death.
