Trump makes good point about terrorist’s wives; insists ‘I don’t believe the

Byron York at the Washington Examiner reported on Saturday about a odd exchange that occurred between Donald Trump and a reporter concerning the Muslim couple who committed a terrorist massacre at a Christmas party in San Bernardino, California. Trump cited no proof for this claim aside from having a sense about it. The speech was given before an enthusiastic crowd in Davenport, with Trump speaking in a voice hoarse from laryngitis. You know, we’re really – we’re being led by people that don’t know what’s happening. None of Farook’s relations have been named as suspects by authorities.

He also says people near the attackers sometimes know there’s something wrong but refuse to report them for fear of “racial profiling”.

“I probably don’t believe the sister”, Trump said. His evidence, such as it is, amounted to repeatedly saying “I saw it on television” and “so did many other people and many people saw it in person”. The FBI is investigating the shooting rampage that killed 14 people as a potential act of terror that may have been inspired by Islamic State. “I call them the guy with the dirty hat”. Trump says he thinks that’s “pretty bad”, and that people have died as a result.

Trump also repeated his argument for tracking Muslims, as issue over which he has faced harsh criticism. If they’re Muslim, they’re Muslims.

DICKERSON: His sister said she didn’t know what was going on, she was crestfallen for the victims here. “If I’m in there and I have a gun, I’m – we’re going down shooting, we’re going to knock them out, OK, one way or the other”, Trump said.

“I think his mother knew what was going on”, he added. And we’ve better be – I use the word vigilance. No, no I’m not playing on fears, I don’t want to play on fears, I understand the whole world, and I understand. “But he is just gonna be there, luckily, a little bit more than a year”.

“I would certainly go after the wives who absolutely knew it was happening, and I guess your definition of what I’d do, I’m going to leave that to your imagination”, Trump told Dickerson.

“They had weapons, they had pipe bombs, they had a lot of things”. That’s the thing. Where are you on that? “The fact is we don’t need to be profiling in order to be able to get the job done here”, the GOP presidential candidate told CBS’s “Face the Nation”.

“It’s important”, Kelly pointed out to Carson, “whether these are American Muslims in New Jersey versus folks over in Iran or the Middle East”.
