“When President Obama said the other day that he doesn’t think it’s as bad as people think, I think it’s far worse and certainly far worse than he believes it is”, Trump said. “Without safety we have nothing”, he said.

Charles Zelden, a political scientist at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, says there are two approaches in looking at those supporting Donald Trump, especially among the political class.

Cox accused Trump of “writing a blank check to huge hospital corporations to profit off the suffering of veterans”.

Trump also cited “great chemistry with me” and someone “who can help you win” as major factors in his VP selection process.

“Veterans will get timely access to top quality medical care”, Trump promised again, reading from a teleprompter in a hotel ballroom. “You defend America, and America will defend you”, Trump is expected to say in the speech, according to excerpts provided by his campaign.

During his speech, he released a 10-point plan for reforming the VA, which he said is “part of the rigged system”. “And it’s a very divisive term”, he said. The GOP says all 58 delegates going to the convention now have to vote for Trump.

Asked whether he agreed with Giuliani’s assessment, Trump said the group’s name is “divisive”. “It’s not so much a payoff as it’s sort of you want people in those positions who you know you can trust”.

Trump has been working to fix his relationship with veterans since he suggested early in his campaign that Arizona Sen.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is up for reelection this year and even by his own estimate, keeping his seat is not exactly going to be a walk in the park.

Republican Donald Trump is pledging to crack down on Veterans Affairs employees who fail to serve veterans.

The presumptive GOP nominee spoke Monday in a hotel ballroom to an intimate crowd – a departure from the large, open rallies with thousands of people that have become his calling card. Trump said it was reworked in light of the deadly attack against police officers in Dallas last week. “It is time for the hostility against our police, and against all members of law enforcement, to end”. Trump brought up Chicago’s rampant shootings.

While the Federal Bureau of Investigation declined to recommend criminal charges against Clinton for using an unsecured email server and deleting thousands of work-related emails, Director James Comey reserved harsh criticism for the presidential hopeful, saying she was “extremely careless” with security while contradicting her claims that she did not send or receive classified information from her unsecured email account.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie introduced Trump on Monday, calling for “a return to law and order” and applauding Trump’s tough tone on national security.

“The current state of the Department of Veterans Affairs is absolutely unacceptable”, read the plan that Trump unveiled last fall.
