Students also shared their disappointment with Trump’s success, several asserting that the results in SC will have negative implications for the Republican party. She said she thought both men, whom she has long known and admired, couldn’t get through to voters because of all of the attention on Trump.
But Cruz’s finish in SC was seen as poor for the conservative candidate who had been expected to do much better in a state where evangelicals – a core electorate for Cruz – hold considerable sway in the primaries.
Having proven his mettle in South Carolina, Trump emerged well primed for more winning as the primary heads towards a cluster of Southern states.

Then there are the states voting on “Super Tuesday”, or March 1, when the primary will really pick up steam.
Trump rolled to a commanding victory in the SC primary on Saturday, solidifying his position as the Republican presidential front-runner after a brutal campaign that drove Jeb Bush to quit the race. “And whether it’s here or elsewhere we’re going to start to win states, especially when it’s winner-take-all”.
“The people that are smart are angry because we’re exhausted of being the stupid people”.

Meanwhile, Cruz fired his campaign spokesman for social media posts involving a video that falsely alleged Rubio insulted the Bible.
What would help Rubio raise money? He racked up a number of endorsements from party leaders on Monday, including Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah and former presidential candidate Bob Dole, boosting his efforts to become the candidate who can unite Republicans.
Host Joe Scarborough followed up, “But what state can he win? They don’t want to vote for a liar”, Trump said Monday to a crowd of thousands packed into a Las Vegas arena.
“There is no doubt that Republican voters will go towards Rubio since he is the last “establishment Republican” running that can win the nomination”, Zhu said.

And Trump, who has slammed the caucus process since losing to Cruz in Iowa, told his supporters to forget about the slightly more arduous caucus process, which involves voters meeting at a caucus location and hearing pitches for each candidate before casting their vote.
