Trump on ‘lock her up’ chant: ‘I’m starting to agree’

He added: “Hillary Clinton says America is stronger together”.

Clinton also made a pitch for disgruntled working class voters, who have formed the backbone of Trump’s base, saying that her priority as president would be to create “more good jobs with rising wages”. Rather than ask Americans to trust her, she implored them to rally against Trump, who she cast as unsafe and unfit to lead the country. That group of voters has eluded Clinton and was perhaps a hard sell after a Democratic convention that heavily celebrated racial and gender diversity.

Trump is also targeting OH and Pennsylvania as states where he can make headway with blue-collar white men.

Clinton is playing up economic opportunity, diversity and national security.

If the Democrats who extol the virtue of their presidential candidate really want to face reality – that Hillary Clinton is a tarnished candidate whose negative ratings are apparent in all of the polls – they might finally recognize that the way to win this election is not with a pro-Clinton agenda but with an anti-Trump one.

Clinton, looking at moderate Republicans who have seemingly resigned themselves to supporting Trump, opened a new line of attack in her speech by simply noting that Trump can’t – or won’t – change.

“But after watching that performance last night – such lies – I don’t have to be so nice anymore”. But the DNC fell short on the night that counted most, with Hillary Clinton commanding 1.2 million fewer viewers for her speech than Donald Trump did his. “I’m taking the gloves off”.

“Here’s the sad truth: There is no other Donald Trump”, Clinton said.

Starting with a rally Friday at Temple University, Clinton, accompanied by running mate Sen. Democrats hammered home those themes this week with an array of politicians, celebrities, gun-violence victims, law enforcement officers and activists of all sexual preferences and races.

At the end of her speech, President Barack Obama offered his congratulations.

His campaign dismissed her convention speech as “an insulting collection of cliches and recycled rhetoric”, that was “delivered from a fantasy universe, not the reality we live in today”.

At the Republican convention Trump doubled-down on controversial far-right plans to stem Muslim and Hispanic immigration and get tough on crime.

Donald Trump on Friday abandoned his modest dismissals of the “lock her up” chants his supporters have aimed at Hillary Clinton. He described the Republican gathering as “dark and depressing”.

Not long after, the intrusion into a system used by the Clinton campaign came to light, first reported by Reuters. In a tweet he revealed he was talking about former NY mayor Michael Bloomberg, who blasted Trump Wednesday night and called on Americans to elect “a sane, competent person for president”.

She promises to focus on parts of the country that have been “left out and left behind” – constituencies where declining living standards, fears about safety, drug use and lost jobs have fueled support for Trump.

Barrack Obama gives her a great, iconic hug.

Thursday night Hillary Clinton made history as the first woman to accept a major party’s presidential nomination. Still, some Clinton and Trump backers would never consider switching sides. “I don’t know how you beat that”. “Your cause is our cause”.

The campaign has turned to Leslie Dach, a former Wal-Mart executive and aide to former President Bill Clinton, to convince Republicans – particularly those in business – to back Clinton.
