Trump overshadows Republican debate even as he sits it out
Elon University Political Science Professor Dr. Jason Husser says though it is not unheard of for a candidate to skip a debate it is unusual to skip a debate over a moderator.

“If Fox News has no Trump, then I am all Trump”, he said before presenting “The 2016 Top Tremendous All-You-Can Trump Luxury Presidential Debate”.
Last night, Fox News showed America what the Republican presidential race would look like without Donald Trump.
Trump chose to boycott the debate after feuding with Fox News over one of the debate’s moderators, Megyn Kelly, and after the network issued a statement mocking Trump.
The business tycoon also dominated talk on Twitter.
Mr Cruz found himself booed by the audience when he accused the Fox presenters of encouraging his rivals to attack him.
In the metered-market overnights, which represent 56 of the nation’s largest markets, Fox News Channel’s debate from Iowa averaged an 8.4 household rating. “Megyn Kelly’s really biased against me”, he said in an Instagram video that day.
With Trump off the debate stage Thursday night, it made room for other candidates to shine.
The ironic part is that if this debate somehow lowers the buzz and enthusiasm around the primary and keeps caucus turnout low, it actually benefits Cruz, who is polling second behind Trump in Iowa.
Ted Cruz’s strategy to go after Donald Trump this early in the election may now be backfiring, NBC News reported.
A recent CNN/ORC poll of Republican voters has Trump at 41 percent to 19 percent for Cruz, with more than two-thirds of Republicans saying they believe Trump will be the party’s presidential candidate.
He raised million for wounded vets, $1 million of which was from his own pocket.

In the interview, Trump also offered some backhanded support for the idea that Jeb Bush had his best debate without the reality TV star present.
