A lot of candidates have trekked to Las Vegas to try their luck at Sheldon Adelson roulette, but Rubio reportedly has the hot hand for now. A formal endorsement by Adelson – derisively known to Democrats as the “Sheldon Primary” – could come as soon as the end of October, the sources said. With a net worth of $25.7 billion, according to Forbes, Adelson can afford to spend freely.
Rubio’s outspoken support for Israel is a big draw for Adelson, although all the GOP candidates have sought to stake out strong backing for the Jewish state and most have slammed President Obama for perceived coolness toward Israel. He just doesn’t want to see his Democratic rivals argue over “who is the most liberal”. “All of the candidates will see which one can out-liberal the opposite”. It’s not particularly noteworthy to witness an American politician bowing and scraping before an oddball billionaire during our nation’s spin through the “Doom Loop Of Oligarchy”, but it is a little amusing to reflect on the fact that Rubio likes to pretend he is different. It’s a very pretty thing to say.
