Trump praises late Iraqi leader Saddam as terrorist killer

“He was a bad guy, really bad guy”, Trump said. But you know what he did well? “There’s absolutely no place for even the slightest place for praise of this ruthless dictator who publicly supported terrorism and tortured and killed his own citizens”. “He didn’t read them the rights”.

The GOP standard-bearer then called Iraq “Harvard for terrorists”. You wanna be a terrorist? It’s like Harvard. OK?

“Donald Trump’s praise for brutal strongmen seemingly knows no bounds”, Jake Sullivan of the Clinton campaign said in a statement after Trump praised Hussein during an election rally in North Carolina. Last year, he told CNN that the world would be “100 percent” better off if Saddam was still in power in Iraq and Moammar Gadhafi was still in power in Libya.

Although this stance is not a new one for Trump, some of his Republican colleagues rushed to distance themselves from the presumptive nominee on Tuesday evening. House Speaker Paul Ryan appeared on The Kelly Fileon Fox News Tuesday night.

“He was one of the 20th century’s most evil people”, Ryan said of the former Iraqi strongman, who was captured by U.S. troops and later executed after a trial. He was up there.

Despite a continuing effort and lots of noise by a band of insurgents, Donald Trump and the Republican Party are on track to defeat rebels trying to head off his nomination at this month’s convention. But he added: “When he says things that I don’t agree with I’m going to speak my mind”, he said. Among those believed to be under consideration for the position is Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker. Notably, Ryan refused to condemn Trump directly.
