The last time Trump drew about even with Clinton was in mid-May, after his last two rivals for the Republican nomination dropped out of the race and party leaders started to get behind his campaign.

Clinton noted that convention speaker after convention speaker fixated on her, which she called “perversely flattering”.
In a number of messages on Twitter, while Mr Trump was still speaking, she said her rival was setting forward policies that discounted women, African-Americans, the LGBT community, Muslims, Latinos and immigrants.
“To every parent who dreams for their child, and every child who dreams for their future, I say these words to you tonight: I’m with you, I will fight for you and I will win for you”.

Trump bragged about how much social-media attention his convention had gotten. She was surrounded on all sides by screaming supporters and eight massive flags were draped across the room.
But no vice presidential announcement came.
In what should have been a feel-good victory lap the morning after his thundering acceptance speech, Trump instead defended his decision to retweet an unflattering photo of Cruz’s wife, Heidi, and returned to wondering about possible links between Cruz’s father and President John F. Kennedy’s assassin.
“I was pretty shocked”, Clinton said. His vision of America is one where we Americans are kind of helpless, we need to be rescued. “Hillary Clinton’s message is that things will never change”, Trump said in the clearest summation of his campaign’s organizing principle.
“That’s not a democracy, my friends”, Clinton said, with both amusement and condemnation in her tone.
“I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father”, Cruz said.
Point-by-point, Clinton rebutted Trump’s speech, including his claims to “speak” for America. He said “history will repeat itself with Donald Trump”, referring to Reagan’s years in office. I think it’s a wonderful country.
The crowd roared: “Hillary!”
The Democratic National Convention begins Monday in Philadelphia.
The audience in Cleveland broke into chants of “build that wall” when Trump talked about immigration. “Its about making sure the economy works fore everyone not just those at the top”.
“When the FBI Director says that the Secretary of State was “extremely careless” and ‘negligent, ‘ in handling our classified secrets, I also know that these terms are minor compared to what she actually did”.
And so long as we’re watching new footage of a relaxed and amusing Donald Trump at the press conference, we’re not thinking about Thursday’s images of an angry man shouting into a microphone for an hour saying that America is a hell hole.
