Trump provides plenty of fodder for Clinton, Dems
Long a lightning rod on the right, Hillary Clinton is making a targeted appeal to Republicans who challenge Donald Trump’s claim to the conservative mantle and fear his possible presidency.

“I think she has work to do, and I think the party has some work to do to convince us that not only are they going to live up to that platform the party passed, but that they’ll work with us”, said Donna Smith, executive director of Progressive Democrats of America.
“A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons”, she said.
Hillary Clinton, hoping to become the first female US President in history, has closed the Democratic National Convention with a rousing speech.
Clinton is now expected to start nationwide campaigns before engaging in public debates with Donald Trump, who trashed her speech. “Those were actually Donald Trump’s words in Cleveland”.
As most Democrats rally around Hillary Clinton, the lingering “Bernie or Bust” movement is stirring frustration at the party’s convention among delegates of color, who say they’re upset at the refusal of the Vermont senator’s most fervent backers to fall in line. Bernie Sanders, who urged his supporters to support Clinton despite their differences. “Your cause is our cause”.
The most recent Rasmussen poll released on Thursday shows Clinton with just a one percentage point lead, while a Los Angeles Times poll released on Wednesday shows Trump leading by seven percentage points. “I will spend the rest of my life campaigning for someone that cares”, one Sanders supporter said as he left the arena while holding up a sign for Jill Stein, Green Party. Perhaps the most powerful moment in Thursday night’s program was provided by the father of Captain Humayun Khan, a Muslim American soldier who was killed in Iraq in 2004. But he insisted, “We don’t have a single issue in this country that we can’t tackle”, and said job creation would be the top priority if Clinton wins the White House. It’s truly is up to us. She then asked for unity, “We have to decide whether we all will work together so we all can rise together”.
However, amid questions from followers on social media and evidence the line had been used repeatedly by former U.S. president, Trump Jr. appeared to back away from his accusation and instead claimed he was only joking.
American flags waved in the stands of the packed convention hall. There were persistent but scattered calls of “No more war”, but the crowd drowned them out with chants of “Hill-a-ry” and “U-S-A!”
Paying off a slogan of Republican President Ronald Reagan, Clinton criticized Trump’s negative tone by saying he has turned “morning in America” into “midnight in America”. And her speech mentioned many of Sanders’ priorities, including free college tuition, a higher minimum wage and higher taxes on Wall Street. “I sweat the details of policy”, she said.
“But I’m here to tell you tonight – progress is possible”. The version of Hillary Clinton featured in Philadelphia is one who’s spent a lifetime working for children, the poor and the disabled – and who is relentlessly dedicated to the work of social justice.
Clinton, accompanied by Kaine and their spouses, will use her bus trip to focus on economic opportunity, diversity and national security.
Clinton’s acceptance capped the four-day convention that welcomed a slew of celebrities and politicians alike.

Yet resentments lingered throughout the convention, with a handful of attendees booing during her address.
