Trump Rally in San Diego Draws Thousands

About a thousand Trump foes demonstrated outside San Diego’s convention center, some engaging in shouting matches with the candidate’s supporters and many carrying signs critical of his plan to wall off the US border with Mexico, which runs just south of the city.

Yesterday, more than 1,000 protestors demonstrated outside a Trump rally in San Diego.

Following the rally, police ordered the crowd to disperse, judging it to be an unlawful assembly, but many demonstrators remained. At least three people were arrested, police said.

He has promised to build a wall along the US-Mexico border and deport the almost 11 million undocumented immigrants who live in the US.

Activists have criticized his plan as being cruel and impossible to implement.

“We need to put up a wall to keep them out”, said Trump supporter Christine Kinyoun, 44, of Hanford.

One anti-Trump supporter who apparently refused to heed police calls to clear the area was seen being tackled to the ground before being handcuffed and dragged away.

The incident comes just two days after 14 protesters were arrested at a Trump rally in Anaheim.

After last night’s rally, Trump tweeted the following at the San Diego Police Department.

Inside, the mood was far less charged, as Trump took repeated jabs at Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

On Friday, Trump backed out, saying in a statement it woudl be “inappropriate to debate the second place finisher”.

“I heard that he was going to debate me, then I heard that he was not going to debate me, then I heard that he was going to debate me”. “I could have settled this case numerous times but I don’t want to settle cases when we’re right”. Trump also said he believes Curiel is “Mexican”.

“I think it’s fair to say that they are surprised by the Republican nominee; they are not sure how seriously to take some of his pronouncements”, Obama said.

Sanders is trailing Clinton in the race to secure their party’s nomination, but opinion polls show he is slicing into her lead in California.
