Pence said he spoke with Trump on Wednesday morning, and the GOP presidential nominee “strongly encouraged me to endorse Paul Ryan in next Tuesday’s primary”, Pence said. “I believe we need Paul Ryan in leadership”.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Donald Trump said he was not going to back Paul Ryan in the Wisconsin primary next week, nor would he be backing John McCain in his primary in Arizona later in the month.
“We are organized” and “in very good shape”, Manafort said. And I’m just not quite there yet.
United States presidential nominee Donald Trump says there’s “great unity” in his campaign despite growing dissent and turmoil among his fellow Republicans. “Neither Speaker Ryan nor anyone on his team has ever asked for Donald Trump’s endorsement”, said Zack Roday, Ryan’s campaign spokesman.
“You know, Ronald Reagan’s 11th commandment”, he said, which is that thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.
Trump’s campaign Wednesday announced the results of his July fundraising ahead of the August 20 deadline to report the numbers to the Federal Election Commission. He said, “I don’t regret anything but I was hit very hard from the stage of the Democrats and I think I am entitle to respond to a hard hit like that”.
“I’m not ready to do that right now”, Ryan told Jake Tapper on CNN.
McCain has also criticized Trump in recent weeks for his statements that he might not back North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies who haven’t been fulfilling their financial obligations to the alliance.
Trump also tweeted at Ryan’s primary opponent Monday, thanking him for his “kind words”. “I’m not there right now”.
In an email to MSNBC, Trump campaign spokesperson Hope Hicks addressed the speculation, saying: “There is no truth to this whatsoever”.
In a Washington Post interview published Tuesday, Trump declined to support the re-election of McCain and New Hampshire Sen. John McCain, has reportedly caused frustration among top Republicans, some of whom are planning an “intervention” after a rough few days in the news cycle for the billionaire.
Trump claimed that Ryan had asked for the endorsement, but said he is only “giving it very serious consideration”.
The move came just one day after Trump offered praise to Nehlen on Twitter for defending him online in a controversy regarding Trump’s criticism aimed at the Gold Star family.
Other high-profile Republicans have not said they’d vote for Clinton but they have said they won’t vote for Trump, including Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush.

Sources close to the campaign are describing a series of missteps that are trailing the GOP presidential nominee, most prominently his now multi-day battle against Khizr Khan, the Muslim father of a killed U.S. soldier.
