Hundreds of Donald Trump supporters came out on the evening of Thursday, July 28, 2016, in Novi to hear his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, address key campaign issues and the issues facing people in MI.

Pence, who vowed early in his career to not run campaigns fueled by personal attacks, has yet to take hold of Trump-created nicknames for his own use on the campaign trail.
Pence also talked about his personal history and talked about Trump’s skills as a negotiator and a builder.
“A man who’s going to go to Washington, D.C. He’s going to shake up the status quo, and demand that Washington D.C. start to work for the American people, with the American people, and we will make America great again!”
“Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record-setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post”, Trump wrote on his Facebook page in mid-June.
The same day Pence bemoaned name-calling in politics, his running mate took to Twitter to taunt “Crooked Hillary Clinton” and “Little Michael Bloomberg”.
Pence, however, has received praise from establishment Republicans and social conservatives for his time as governor. “This movement is ready and together we will elect Donald Trump the 45th President of the United States of America”, he said. “There would be very serious consequences to having him as Vice President, especially in a presidency like what Donald Trump has in mind”.
“You know I stand here among these Michiganders and I’m just a guy from down south of the border”. But his most high-profile episode may have been his signing of the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” into law, despite strong opposition from state businesses. “To the principals of limited government”.
A campaign official blamed the incident on overenthusiastic volunteers.
The Poynter Institute’s McBride said it’s one thing to restrict access if there’s limited space, such as when the White House designates specific “pool” reporters to cover an event at a small venue and share it with other media outlets, but it’s another issue to target reporters at a large campaign rally.
Pence promised that Trump will do his best to protect America from foreign enemies.
“I was stunned by that”, Pence said.

North Street resident Helen Hermes said she thinks only Trump can lift the spirits of Americans and rebuild the economy after the country was led by Democrats for the past eight years.
