Trump’s campaign manager resigns after being pushed aside

But Trump was reportedly unhappy under Manafort’s control. “It’s really incredible, so I’m just here to help”.

“This morning Paul Manafort offered, and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign”, Trump said.

Manafort and business associate Rick Gates, another top strategist in Trump’s campaign, were working in 2012 on behalf of the political party of Ukraine’s then-president, Viktor Yanukovych. On Thursday, the AP reported that it had obtained emails revealing further details: Gates directed an unregistered influence campaign that included attempts to gain positive press coverage for Ukrainian officials, sway us legislators, gather political intelligence and undercut American public sympathy for the imprisoned rival of Ukraine’s then-president.

Manafort was hired by the Trump campaign in March, initially to manage the candidate’s convention efforts. He added, “One thing I can promise you is this, I will always tell you the truth”.

The departure also comes as Manafort is defending himself from investigations into his extensive lobbying history overseas, particularly in the Ukraine, where he represented pro-Russian interests.

Manafort was a controversial figure almost as soon as he came on board the Trump campaign in March.

But the Clinton camp also found itself on the defensive for the first time in weeks.

Federal Election Commission records show Trump has raised about $110,000 in Minnesota, far less than Hillary Clinton’s $2 million. They deserve all this heartburn Trump is causing them.

“I think Donald Trump ought to really investigate this and where his chief adviser, what his association with the Russians are”, Rep. Adam Kinzinger of IL told CNN’s Jake Tapper earlier this week.

In East Baton Rouge Parish, Friday, Trump’s motorcade drove through hard-hit communities, where ripped up carpet and flooring, furniture and the entire contents of homes were piled on the curb.

The businessman and his running mate, Mike Pence, drove past piles of ripped-up carpet, furniture and personal belongings discarded on curbs. Manafort’s role had been diminished, and Bannon is expected to encourage Trump to embrace the hyper-aggressive attitude that won him the primary.

When a woman thanked him for coming, rather than playing golf like the president has been doing during his New England vacation, Trump replied: “Somebody is, somebody is that shouldn’t be”.

Conway said Friday that it was Trump’s decision to express regret in his speech. Aides have noted Obama is receiving regular updates on the conditions.

Indeed, the blueprint Trump has stuck to for much of this week has the potential to resonate with voters deeply frustrated with Washington and career politicians.

Stephen Bannon, the executive chairman for Breitbart News, is the new campaign CEO, and pollster and consultant Kellyanne Conway is now campaign manager. “I have never received a single “off-the-books cash payment” as falsely “reported” by The New York Times, nor have I ever done work for the governments of Ukraine or Russian Federation”, he said.

Manafort and Gates have said that they did not disclose their activities to the Justice Department because they did not oversee lobbying efforts and merely introduced the Washington firms to a Brussels-based nonprofit, the European Center for a Modern Ukraine, which they said ran the project.

The hard-hitting spot touts Trump’s plan to crack down on illegal immigration and halt some refugee programs.
