Trump’s convention aide met with House GOP

Almost 900 delegates gathered for the 10 Congressional District Republican Committee’s convention at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn on Saturday to choose who they wanted to represent them on the national stage.

“We go over things like the budget, we go over things like our grass roots operation getting ready for the election in November, and of course, we talk about the convention we’re going to have in July in Cleveland”, said Peter Feaman, the Republican Florida State and National Committeeman.

Priebus believes “the rules of the convention should be decided by the delegates elected by Republican grassroots voters”, the RNC said in a statement.

McConnell explained the convention process that requires a candidate to amass the support of 1,237 delegates in order to clinch the nomination.

Trump’s newly hired convention manager, GOP veteran Paul Manafort, accused the Cruz campaign of using “Gestapo tactics” to steal delegates.

That insistence from Priebus has sparked its own, separate fight inside the party over what say party leaders should have in selecting their nominee.

For instance, if he does become the Republican nominee, who might Ted Cruz’s vice president be?

“Donald Trump is well-positioned to carry NY handily and is likely to acquire a sizable number of New York’s delegates as a result”, said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

CT awards 13 delegates to the statewide victor and three to the victor of each congressional district, for a total of 28. “We have very good relationships with the party structure, leadership in the state, and we’re supported by the four former Republican governors in Pennsylvania and we have very good leadership in the state”. If a candidate wins 50 percent of the vote, they win all three.

“The prospect of a contested convention just adds to the intrigue of the whole process”, said Matthew Levendusky, another associate political science professor at the University of Pennsylvania. “They’re playing by the rules but they’re not respecting the will of the voters”.

“You’re basically buying these people”, Trump said of delegates during a campaign stop in Staten Island, New York, according to The New York Times.

Lewandowski’s comments were wrong on three counts: Ingoglia remained neutral before and after the state’s March 15 GOP primary; the chairman doesn’t “appoint” any delegates; and the chairman is in charge of recommending 15 – not “30 of the 99” – delegates to the state executive committee.

“If 1,237 (delegates) do it under the rules, then no one should complain about that”. The Trump and Cruz campaigns have released a list of supportive delegates and are preparing campaigns to get them elected. But the delegate candidates’ names appear on the ballot without any affiliation to a presidential candidate, meaning voters won’t necessarily know who they are really supporting.
