Trump’s Immigration Plan Attacked by Fellow Republicans at Debate

If Bush and Kasich both seemed a little desperate, it’s only because they were. All the candidates have the right to stay in the race, but they don’t have to be included in the debates.

“Mr. Trump, a federal appeals court just dealt a blow to the Obama administration’s plan to prevent the deportation of 5 million people living in this country illegally…” Someone had to say something.

He said the government must first prove to the American people that “illegal immigration numbers are down significantly” and then “modernize our legal immigration system so that it’s merit-based”. Does Ike trump Reagan?

Previously, Trump had dismissed Carson’s surge in the polls and questioned Carson’s religious denomination, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. There’s a case to be made against the first one particularly.

Ahead of Tuesday’s debates, co-moderator Maria Bartiromo said: “This is an opportunity for us to make sure the world knows what the Fox Business Network is”.

Coming into the debate, Carson was expected to face tough questions about certain discrepancies in his life story, which has served as a point of inspiration long before he became a presidential candidate. Bush spoke up for a pathway to citizenship. When Trump said it was time to give Bush a turn, Bush said, “Thank you, Donald, for letting me speak at the debate”. “So, you know the answer really is? I appreciate that. What a generous man you are”.

The crowd laughed, maybe because it was silly or not adult. “Welders make more money than philosophers”. According to The NY Times, the cash-flush Super PAC supporting Bush is set to roll out a $20 million campaign going after Rubio.

U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky stole the spotlight in the last hour of the debate when he corrected Trump, pointing out that China is not part of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact. I just thought this was a very elegant debate.

“I don’t think anybody did poorly really”. And yet. And yet. Ted Cruz, for example, keeps pushing the gold standard – and suggested, at one point, that economic booms and busts only showed up in the US after the nation abandoned gold. Rubio shot back that if America is kept safe, there will not be an economy to protect.

One thing is clear – Trump and Cruz’s strict immigration policies are incredibly popular amongst core conservatives. That’s when he wasn’t talking about the gold standard or maybe privatizing Social Security.

He instead struck a conciliatory tone, saying he “didn’t think anybody did poorly”, and noting that the GOP candidates were “getting better” with each passing debate.

Relations between presidential candidates Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush are “fine”, even as footage from the Milwaukee Republican Party debate show a few tension between the two Floridians.

“The currency manipulation they don’t discuss in the agreement, which is a disaster”, he said.
