Trump’s proposals are a ‘threat’ to Mexico, Pena Nieto says

“Anyone who has entered the United States illegally is subject to deportation”, Trump said in a highly anticipated speech hours after his surprise meeting with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

“We only want to admit those into our country who share our values and love our people”, Trump said.

“There’s several of us who have gone out on a limb, if you will, to try to at least be at the table of reason with him, and that’s left us confused and disappointed”, said Tony Suarez, the executive vice president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. Would Trump not hail his conquest of Mexico City, citing his domination of the news conference where he practically had the Mexican president poised on his knee?

By asserting authority to pick and choose immigrants, Trump was defending some of his most controversial campaign proposals – including a ban on Muslims, which he called for and has not yet disavowed, and a more targeted restriction on immigrants from countries that don’t satisfy his vetting requirements. And Tim Kaine spends his day in New Hampshire. “That was the speech that Donald Trump gave last night”.

The Florida pastor said that he appreciated Trump saying nice words about Mexico, but he did want some clarification on Trump’s plan to get law-abiding immigrants he deports back into the country. As a conservative who has forever longed for a Republican candidate who processed this incredible talent, it is particularly frustrating that when it finally happens it is in a year when we got duped into nominating an unqualified Democrat. “To return home and apply for re-entry like everybody else under the rules of the new legal immigration system that I have outlined today”, the Republican presidential nominee said.

Later Wednesday night, in a speech on immigration in Phoenix, Arizona, Trump made building the wall the featured element of his immigration plan.

At an appearance in OH on Thursday, Trump again hammered home his tough message on illegal immigration.

Pena Nieto acknowledged he had invited both candidates, and said he did it because “I believe in dialogue to promote Mexico’s interests and above all to protect Mexicans everywhere”.

Trump talked about limiting immigration to its historic norms. Because he was able to mumble through some prepared remarks and answer a couple of quick questions (where he may have fibbed about whether Mexico paying for Trumps’s wall was discussed) without insulting a foreign leader and while apparently controlling his bodily functions, he was suddenly “presidential”.

Trump’s rhetoric would have fit right into the Republican primary. “It will be from now on America first”. Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) even feigned concern for Trump’s campaign. “100%. They don’t know it yet, but they’re going to pay for the wall”. It undercuts Hillary Clinton’s attempt to portray Trump as a toxic racist, and also shows Trump looking the part of a president.

Since the 1990s, politicians who have taken a tough stance on immigration have usually come out against amnesty for anyone living in the country illegally, but spoke favorably of legal immigration.

Mexicans have already made – and beaten to pulp – pinatas of Donald Trump. “Instead, Trump used his remarks in Arizona to reassure his core supporters that he would focus on deporting criminals, but remain true to his original pledge to target all undocumented immigrants without mercy, whether illegal workers or DREAMers or the parents of USA citizens”.
