Trump’s son compares Syrian refugees to poisoned sweets

The Trump family strikes again, this time with the littler Donald comparing Syrian refugees to a bowl of poisoned Skittles. “Would you take a handful?” the graphic asked.

This tweet has understandably caused outrage on Twitter, with many accusing the presidential candidate’s son of diminishing the seriousness of the refugee crisis, which is now the subject of a United Nations summit in NY.

A spokeswoman for Skittles maker Wm.

Mars Candy, the parent company of Wrigley who makes Skittles, put out a statement saying “Skittles are candy; refugees are people”.

“Well, it is remarkable to me to see the level of outrage about a metaphor used by Don Jr., when Hillary Clinton’s calling for a 550% increase in the Syrian refugee program, all the while out Federal Bureau of Investigation and our public safety officials tell us that we can’t know for sure who those people are coming into this country”, the Republican vice-presidential nominee said.

Obviously, the Syrian refugees are no more unsafe than anyone else.

“This image says it all”, reads the text.

Barack Obama’s former speechwriter, Jon Favreau, also jellyfish-stung DT Jr.’s tweet with the heartbreaking image of the burned Aleppo boy, Omran, seen around the world. His administration announced in August that it would meet that goal.

“Thankful my grandfather was allowed into this country and not compared to a poisonous skittle”, Josh Schwerin, a Clinton spokesman, posted on Monday.

“I am calling for a total and complete shutdown of Skittles entering the USA until our leaders can figure out what is going on”, another tweeted.

Trump’s running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, hit back at the Skittles criticism in an NBC News interview.

His eldest son’s tweet came after a weekend that saw several isolated terrorist attacks across the U.S. None of them were carried out by Syrian refugees. Clinton said she would continue with the vetting now in place, an effort that can take multiple years to complete.

In recent months, he has been campaigning for his father to become the next President of the US.
