Trump’s speech to spell out veteran health care proposal
“We want that to be fixed, we want to make sure people aren’t dying waiting to get care, and we want to make sure it’s more efficient and that people are held accountable if they’re not performing correctly”, Taylor said.

Trump said it’s time to uphold the promise to veterans that, “You defend America and America will defend you”.
He said that Mr. Trump would “put people in his administration who understand that the rules in the country and the laws in this country apply to everyone, not just the least powerful but also the most powerful – they apply to everyone”. John McCain was not a war hero because he was captured during the Vietnam War.
Roger Stone is not now working for the Trump campaign, but on Monday, he posted a tongue-in-cheek image on Twitter following Trump’s speech.
WASHINGTON-Republican Donald Trump presented himself as “the law-and-order candidate” with a compassionate heart on Monday, positioning himself as strong on security in response to a wave of anxiety among Americans after the Dallas police shootings.
“We must maintain law and order at the highest level or we will cease to have a country-100 percent”, he said.
Running on restoring “law and order” was what catapulted Nixon into the White House in 1968, when tensions between law enforcement and civil-rights and antiwar activists boiled over into riots in multiple major U.S. cities.
The remarks were a sharp contrast to the speech Trump delivered in the wake of the Orlando shooting, when he accused American Muslims of being too reluctant to cooperate with police.
Trump argued that Clinton’s use of a private email server and the subsequent criminal investigation about it proved that she is “either a liar or grossly incompetent”.
So did New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a top contender for Trump’s VP spot who introduced him at the event.
He promised to modernize the system, minimize wait times for patients and improve care.
The $10-billion emergency program was passed by a bipartisan group in Congress following the VA’s 2014 wait-time scandal, which started with reports that 40 veterans in Phoenix died waiting for care and quickly ballooned into a scandal over long, hidden waits at hospitals and clinics across the country.
Before talking about veterans issues and his plan to reform Veterans Affairs (VA), Trump spoke about the attack in Dallas, Texas last week where five police officers were murdered during an anti-police street protest.
Ensure every veteran has the choice to seek care at the VA or at a private service provider of their own choice.
Under his original plan, eligible veterans would be able to bring their veterans’ identification cards to any private doctor or facility that accepts Medicare and be able to receive immediate treatment.
He also focused on improving accountability in the system to decrease waste and wait times, by offering bonuses to employees who save money and as making sure the director has the authority to fire bad employees. This hotline, Trump said, would “ensure that no valid complaint about the VA” goes unanswered.

Trump also pledged to work with Congress to pass tougher accountability legislation for VA workers, an idea that has been stalled on Capitol Hill for most of the a year ago. It is unclear how that commission would be different from the one that unveiled its findings last week.
