Trump’s wife denies breaking visa rules

Melania Trump said in a statement that there has been “inaccurate reporting and misinformation” about her immigration status.

If the allegations that Melania Trump in fact worked illegally in the United States in 1995 are true, then she would be deported and labeled an “illegal” under the strict, anti-immigrant policies proposed by her husband, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

US immigration law did not require such trips that Mrs. Trump describes for work-visa holders at the time.

But, it’s not Donal Trump who has come to the light, this time, its her wife Mrs. Melania Trump who is hot on all the news channels and press media. Politico also questioned whether the timeline she has given for her arrival is accurate, and cited reports from CBS News and GQ that “Trump falsely claimed to have obtained a college degree in Slovenia”.

Mrs Trump has yet to clarify what type of visa she used during a 1995 photo shoot in NY. “If, as she has said, Trump came to NY in 1996 and obtained a green card in 2001, she likely would not have had to return to Europe even once to renew an H-1B”.

Politico also questioned which visa might have given Trump work rights but also required her to get it renewed regularly in Slovenia.

The confusion has the potential to do significant damage to Donald Trump’s campaign, given his robust views on illegal immigrants. There would be no need to do so if Trump were here on an H-1B visa.

It is unlikely, Politico says, that she qualified for an O-1, a visa for foreigners with “extraordinary ability”.

Trump’s visa application was based on her previous work in Paris and Milan, Zampolli said.

The man who discovered Melania, Paolo Zampolli, told CNN that he sponsored her H-1B visa through his modeling agency in 1996 – a year after that racy photo shoot.

Further inconsistencies, however, are created by a new biography of her titled Melania Trump: The Inside Story, written by Slovenian journalist Bojan Pozar and publicist Igor Omerza.

Bloomberg indicates that it’s possible that Melania Trump is mistaken about the kind of visa she had while working in America as a model. “We don’t know the exact dates of those before she officially settled in NY but her visits prior to that were temporary business opportunities that she had as a model”.

Trump campaign spokesperson Hope Hicks did not answer questions emailed by BuzzFeed News, but she told Politico, “Melania followed all applicable laws and is now a proud citizen of the United States.”
