Trump says he didn’t ‘choke’ in Mexico
Republicans don’t want to be blamed for prematurely giving up on Donald Trump, the party’s presidential nominee, for fear of alienating his supporters.

GOP congressional candidates used the same argument late in the 1996 campaign, when GOP presidential candidate Bob Dole headed toward defeat against Democratic President Bill Clinton.
“I think Donald Trump’s been completely consistent”, Pence countered.
The day before in swing state Ohio, Trump softened his stance on immigration while Clinton blasted Russian Federation for suspected tampering in the US electoral process.
Clinton was flying to events in OH and IL on Monday in a light blue-and-white campaign plane with her press corps.
Vice President Joe Biden is praising Tim Kaine, his possible successor, as a man who is highly qualified for the job and capable of handling any challenge that Hillary Clinton may throw his way.
Clinton’s comments follow reports that the Russian government may have been involved in the hacking of Democratic National Committee emails just days before the party’s national convention.
“The truth is, the central issue is not the needs of the 11 million or however many there may be – and honestly we’ve been hearing that number for years”.
“We didn’t discuss that”, warm-and-fuzzy Trump said.
Meanwhile, Trump extended a rare invitation to journalists to accompany him on his private plane from Cleveland to Youngstown, Ohio.
He’s still pounding away at immigration when he should be talking about the economy, Obamacare and making the country safe.
Trump, meanwhile, continued to face questions about his immigration policy a day after refusing to rule out a pathway to legal status for immigrants in the country illegally.
“In just a few hours, he managed to turn his trip to Mexico into an embarrassing worldwide incident. That damaged America and every serious country in the world”, said the former president.
“Contrast the Hillary situation, where the Federal Bureau of Investigation said there’s no need for legal proceedings, with an attack that is being encouraged by Donald Trump on the DNC by Russian Federation similar to what led to the resignation of a president 30 years ago”, Kaine added.
It seems many of Trump’s former Hispanic backers really thought he may have been pivoting to a softer immigration rhetoric after Trump spent more than a week contradicting his earlier stance.
“This isn’t touch back”, Trump replied.
The day before, Trump attacked Clinton’s energy level, noting she hasn’t followed his aggressive traveling schedule and questioning whether she had the stamina to lead the nation. “You need energy, man”, Trump told reporters.
“She didn’t have the energy to go to Louisiana. And she didn’t have the energy to go to Mexico”. “I think it’s an important element of what we’re doing”.
“I take classification seriously”, she said.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are making competing Labor Day pitches in OH, setting the stage for a critical month in their testy presidential campaign.
The start of full-fledged campaigning opens a pivotal month, culminating in the first presidential debate September 26 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
And without mentioning Trump’s rival, Democrat Hillary Clinton, the paper made clear it would not be getting behind Trump’s movement.

Trump told reporters he does plan to take part in all three presidential debates, joking that only a “hurricane” or “natural disaster” would prevent him from attending.
