As Donald Trump flew to promote his golf course in Scotland Thursday, Hillary Clinton proved her rival wasn’t the only one who could navigate the business world.
Mnuchin said Trump raised about $10 million in conjunction with the Republican Party at fundraising events this week.
The British vote was marked by debate on some of the populist themes driving the Trump campaign, such as concerns about immigration and border security.
In a Bloomberg Politics national poll of likely voters, Trump drew the support of 50 percent of men surveyed, while 33 percent expressed support for Clinton and 13 percent backed Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson. “Our president must care about the success of the country as a whole – not just himself”, supporter Mark Pincus, co-founder of online game maker Zynga, said in a statement issued by the Clinton campaign.
“After self-funding his primary election, Mr. Trump and the campaign have assembled an exceptional fundraising operation, which in recent days has been overwhelmed with contributions for the Republican Party”, his campaign said in a statement announcing the loan forgiveness.
Both candidates are seeking to overcome their high unfavourable ratings among voters at the 8 November election by painting the other as a villain who puts personal gain over the interests of less powerful Americans.
Clinton had called him the “King of Debt” in a speech on Tuesday, slamming his business experience – his strong suit – and practices in what her campaign said was “Evisceration Part II”.
Even as Trump blasted Clinton, he returned to some of the core themes that first powered his surprising presidential campaign.
In his speech, Trump repeated accusations that Clinton’s decisions as America’s top diplomat were influenced by donations to the Clinton Foundation and associated charities. As negative views of the would-be Republican standard bearer surged to a record 70 percent in a new poll, the highest for any U.S. presidential candidate in three decades, Clinton with her own unfavourable rating of 55 percent, took aim at the Manhattan mogul. He had only US$1.3 million in cash to start the month. However, the Republican contestant claimed to use his “unlimited” personal wealth if need be.

Trump only began fundraising in earnest at the end of May. She has said she later worked through the night on the USA response.
