Since the “Veepstakes” came to IN and the final, frenzied push for Donald Trump to pick a running mate.
Christie, a former presidential candidate who became one of the first “establishment Republicans” to endorse Trump, has been advising the NY businessman on the running mate selection, but is also considered a contender himself.
Pence called the thrice-married Trump “a dedicated family man, a great dad, he’s a builder, he’s a fighter, and he’s a patriot, and I think he’s going to make a great president of the United States of America”.
On Wednesday morning, Trump, along with key staffers, daughter Ivanka, sons Eric and Donald Jr., and son-in-law Jared Kushner, huddled with Pence, the in governor, at the governor’s mansion in Indianapolis.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are the final contenders for Trump’s vice presidential candidate, a person familiar with Trump’s thinking told The Associated Press. He was joined by his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner; his sons Donald Jr. and Eric; and campaign chairman Paul Manafort.
Jeff Sessions, like Christie, gets points for loyalty, as he was the first USA senator to endorse Trump.
“It’s not settled”, the Trump adviser said.
All of this took place in IN to allow Trump to have more time with the Pence, CNN said, citing a Trump spokesman.
Speaking to reporters after the private sit-down, Pence revealed what he and Trump spent the meeting discussing.
Trump has been spending a sizable amount of time with Pence, a former USA congressman who could help the political novice build relationships in Washington and gain credibility with social conservatives. “When I heard I was doing it on Friday”, Trump told Fox News on Wednesday, “I was saying, I wonder if those people know me very well”. The Indiana governor served six terms in the House of Representatives and chaired the House Republican Conference from 2009 to 2011, while Mr Gingrich, a Republican presidential candidate in 2012, masterminded the party’s takeover of the lower chamber of Congress in 1994 during his 20 years on Capitol Hill.
Hannity addressed the matter on his Twitter account late Wednesday night.
Trump is expected to announce his decision Friday, a few days ahead of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

“A lot of people who are a little jittery about Donald Trump would feel reassured talking with Pence”, Gingrich said. “And that is why I believe Donald Trump is so unsafe”, Clinton said Wednesday during a speech at the historic Old State Capitol in Springfield, Ill. If Trump’s going to let it all hang out and appoint a guy whose main duties are agreeing with everything he says and attacking Democrats relentlessly, why not choose a guy who does that for a living right now? He also has deep ties to evangelical Christians and other conservatives, particularly after signing a law previous year that critics said would have allowed businesses to deny service to gay people for religious reasons. “I think VP choice matters”. He says, “We can not have a man with Trump’s temperament with the nuclear code and running this country”. That kept Trump in IN longer than he expected after campaigning with Pence and setting off a last-minute scramble of high-profile travelers to the Hoosier State as the clock ticked down on his VP decision. Many GOP strategists say Trump – who has struggled to stay on message in recent months amid missteps and controversies – needs a running mate who can defend him from a deluge of attacks and negative media attention. The Indiana governor has credibility with social conservatives who are among the most suspicious of Republican Party constituencies towards Trump.
