Trump scares the hell out of me: NY police chief
“Mr Trump scares me, scares the hell out of me, to be quite frank with you”, NY police commissioner Bill Bratton tells CBS News, a day after announcing that he will retire in September.

Bratton said he’s known Trump “for 20 odd years”, adding the relationship is “not close”.
Bratton specifically criticized Trump’s comments about veterans and veterans’ families, saying Trump’s acceptance of a purple heart at a campaign rally on Monday demonstrated his lack of respect for the military.
“But I’ve been up to the apartment and interacted with him at different times and I know many people who are strongly supportive of him, although they have questions”.
“Mr. Trump scares me”.
“This was much easier”, said Trump, who has never served in the armed forces.
I’m wondering, as a Vietnam veteran, what was your reaction to the Purple Heart incident yesterday, where Donald Trump got the Purple Heart?
The medal is given to soldiers wounded in combat.
“Trump said he’d be the “law and order candidate” during his speech at the GOP convention last month”. “I’ve just watched this whole campaign and I just shake my head”.
Bratton also discussed Trump during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday, wondering whether the presidential hopeful “has ever taken a punch in his life”. “But again, it’s troubling”, he said.
“It’s a lot tougher being soft and understanding when you need to be soft”.

Though he’s largely remained quiet on Trump’s candidacy throughout the election, Bratton rejected Trump’s offer to speak to NYPD officers after several police officers were shot in Dallas earlier this year.
