Trump soars to new heights in latest national poll
Clinton would win 59 percent of support from Latinos compared to 36 for Rubio, which gives her a 23-point lead.

Powered by the support of self-identified evangelicals and Tea Party Republicans, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have the backing of more than half of likely Iowa GOP caucusgoers, according to a new Quinnipiac University Poll. Ted Cruz, at 14 percent; followed by Republican Sen. Trump climbed 13 percentage points since the last Monmouth University poll in late October. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson saw his support sag to 9%, while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) was at just 3%.
Republicans and Republican-leaning voters were polled after Trump last week made his controversial proposal to temporarily ban all Muslims from entering the U.S.
At 41 percent, Trump’s support in the Monmouth poll was the highest it has ever been, and is up from 28 percent in October.
And cringe they have.
The CNN hosted debate comes as Trump leads in national polls.
It appears Donald Trump crossed a red line this week when he attacked fellow GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz as a “maniac” for taking on the establishment in Washington D.C. Though Trump repeated in detail all the other polls showing him far ahead of Cruz.
Concern has been growing that Republicans would suffer a landslide loss in 2016 with Trump at the head of the ticket that would pummel the party’s down-ballot candidates and, at a minimum, cost control of the Senate. “You simply can’t pigeonhole his supporters as representing one or two particular factions of the party”.
On Sunday, Trump took the gloves off on Cruz, days after The New York Times reported Cruz had told donors that the judgment of all candidates, including Trump’s, should be evaluated.
“This is nearly a rote criticism of Cruz”. Ben Carson’s support meanwhile has plummeted to 11% from 29%. “I don’t believe either one of them is going to be our president”.
Later in the day, Cruz responded to Trump’s “maniac” comment by tweeting a video of the song of the same name from the 1983 film, Flashdance. I’m leading by a lot as you know, so at some point he is going to come after me but I like him and I think he likes me.
Still, Christie backers have good news this week with the candidate’s return to the main debate stage.
On Tuesday night, during the latest round of GOP presidential debates in Las Vegas, which will air on CNN at 8:30 p.m. eastern, potential voters will gain more insight on where each of the candidates stand on key issues such as the economy and national security.

Rubio has already questioned Cruz on foreign policy, suggesting he is guilty of an “isolationist” approach and criticizing him for voting to restrict the bulk metadata programs used by intelligence agencies – a move that leaves Cruz more exposed following the San Bernardino terror attack.
