Trump summons entire Senate to WH briefing on N. Korea

Spicer argued that Flynn filled out that form during the Obama administration, and brushed aside questions about the White House refusing the committee’s request for any documents “referring or relating to Lieutenant General Flynn’s contacts with foreign nationals”.

Congressional staffers will not be allowed at the briefing, which will take place at 3 p.m. EDT (1900 GMT).

“These briefings are always, always, always done in the SCIF up here”, one Senate aide, who was not authorised to talk on the record, said on Monday (local time).

Graham and fellow Republican Senator John McCain, both defense hawks who have been Trump critics, discussed North Korea with Trump at dinner at the White House on Monday night and said they were impressed with his resolve.

Beijing is anxious about the possibility of all-out conflict on the peninsula, which could lead to the collapse of the North Korean regime under its mercurial leader Kim Jong-un.

“If you see him attack a military base, if you see some sort of intercontinental ballistic missile, then obviously we’re going to [strike].”

“I’m not firing Sean Spicer”, he said, according to someone familiar with the encounter. She praised China’s increased pressure on North Korea.

North Korea’s nuclear capabilities, and particularly its threat to neighboring countries, pose a challenging threat for the United States to grapple with.

“It’s not as if Sean met President Trump on Sean’s first day of the White House”.

“We agreed to strongly demand North Korea, which is repeating its provocation, show restraint”, Abe told reporters in Tokyo.

“You’ve got Russian Federation, you’ve got wiretapping, you’ve got other things going on”, she added.

“We have to do all we can right now to mobilize the peace movement”, Will Griffin, an organizer of the US-based Stop THAAD in Korea and US Militarism in Asia and Pacific, told Sputnik’s Loud & Clear. But it is kind of jarring that Trump doesn’t consider whether his White House is effectively communicating with the American people a measure by which his White House communications department should be judged.

“Our military is closely monitoring the North Korean military’s movement”, the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. The upside of the strategy, if it works, is that the “nuclear freeze” would delay for years the day the North can fit a small, reliable, well-tested weapon atop a large, reliable, well-tested missile.

Meanwhile, a third USA citizen was detained Friday by North Korean authorities as he was about to leave the country.

Mr. Trump’s statements on Twitter and in recent interviews on the North Korea crisis have contributed to the mounting sense that the administration is pushing to change the status quo.

Embattled White House national security adviser Michael Flynn resigned Monday
