Trump supporter’s ‘taco truck’ comments meets with mixed reaction
As The Washington Post’s Philip Bump points out, a taco truck on every corner could beis “good news for the economy in one way”.

The social media onslaught was in reaction to a Thursday night interview on MSNBC with Latinos for Trump founder Marco Gutierrez, who said the Mexican culture is “dominant” and “imposing” before issuing his taco warning.
“I don’t know what culture Mr. Gutierrez is talking about, but I know that the Hispanic culture has a saying – a very prominent saying”, Espaiillat said.
Gutierrez, who is a Mexican immigrant, defended Trump’s stance on immigration, and said restrictions need to be tighter because Mexican culture is causing problems. In the multicultural 21 century America a presidential candidate could run and win promising that under his administration there will be a taco truck on every corner.
“We have a lot of good things that we’re bringing to the United States, but we also have problems”, he said.
Ironically, Gutierrez’s comments seemed to turn the #TacoTrucksOnEveryCorner hashtag into a pro-Hillary Clinton campaign.
Trump has lost key support among Latino leaders this week after his bungling trip and his speech in Arizona.
“Let me get this straight, (Donald Trump) loses AND we get taco trucks on every corner??”.
Immigration policy has been at the center of the Trump campaign’s messaging over the last week, as the Republican nominee made a high-profile trip to Mexico to meet with President Enrique Peña Nieto. A taco truck on every corner means a dramatic shift in how America views itself, sure, but it also means a new economy built on serving up burritos or developing new, more fuel-efficient box trucks.
Trump, who has a documented history with Mexico, including calling Mexican immigrants to the USA “rapists” and “drug dealers”, visited the country yesterday. Many have downplayed Trump’s rhetoric on a border wall with Mexico, with one even calling it “virtual,” and Trump’s plan to deport 11 million immigrants “rhetorical”, according to MSNBC.
