The man who attempted to scale Trump Tower on Wednesday was caught by the police when he got to the 21st floor.

Police had earlier closed several streets near the building in one of the city’s busiest areas and put an inflatable landing pad on East 56th Street between Madison and Fifth Avenues.
At a news conference later the New York Police Department said the unidentified man did not express a desire to harm anyone and said his mission was to get a meeting with Trump. “I guarantee that it is in your interest to honor this request”, the man in the video said. Police said he was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. While climbing, the man could be seen smiling and continuing to clean the glass and apply his suction cups as he made his slow climb up the tower. They also broke windows above his route and inflated giant cushions below him in case he tumbled off the 58-story Trump headquarters. Live television footage showed uniformed officers reaching out and grabbing the young man – dressed in grey shorts, an olive T-shirt and white cap – around three hours after he started his ascent using five suction cups.
Police have broken out glass and ridden on a window washing platform in their attempts to catch him. He then implores viewers to “be sure to get out and vote for Mr. Trump”. Officers wrestled him inside the window while he resisted.

As all this went on, Trump himself was miles away, campaigning in Steve’s apparent home state of Virginia.

Parts of the building, including the terraces, are open to the public during the day.
