Trump Takes Aim At Hillary Clinton, Potential Court Nominees

In May, Politifact found no evidence that Clinton ever advocated repealing or abolishing the Second Amendment.

“What he said very clearly was that if Hillary Clinton were elected president, she would get to appoint judges to the Supreme Court, and among the other things that they would do to destroy us, would be to do away with the Second Amendment and your right to bear arms”, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said at an election rally later in the night. She has said repeatedly that she supports the Second Amendment right to own guns, but backs some stricter controls.

United States Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Tuesday drew widespread criticism for seemingly advocating the assassination of Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

“Among Trump voters, well over half say they back him because they dislike her”, he said.

Robby Mook, a spokesman for Clinton’s campaign, denounced Trump’s remarks as “dangerous”.

Then he added ambiguously: “Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is – I don’t know. This is a tremendous political movement”.

Jason Miller, Trump’s senior communications adviser, said in a statement that Trump was merely talking about Second Amendment supporters large influence as a group. There was, instead, a stream of condemnations from Democrats, an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity that Trump used to criticize coverage of the remark, and an email blast from the group Free the Delegates, which is beseeching the Republican National Committee to remove Trump as the party’s nominee. But – but I’ll tell you what.

Trump’s reaction later as the uproar grew: “Give me a break”.

Michael Hayden, a former Central Intelligence Agency director who on Monday was among 50 Republican national security experts to denounce Trump in a letter, said on CNN, “You’re not just responsible for what you say”. Eddie Vale, the vice president of the liberal super PAC American Bridge, tweeted at the same time: “ummmmm Trump just alluded to people shooting Clinton”.

“There is something we will do on #ElectionDay: Show up and vote for the #2A #DefendtheSecond #NeverHillary“, the gun rights organization tweeted.

Trump’s vice presidential running mate, Mike Pence, asked if he believed Trump was inciting violence towards Clinton, told NBC’s Philadelphia affiliate: “Of course not. No”.

Retired four-star general Barry McCaffrey also spoke out against Trump, declaring him unfit for the Oval Office and saying it was “remarkable how little he knows” about national security.

Giffords responded to Trump’s careless comments in a joint statement with her husband, Mark Kelly.

Stevenson said College Republicans would work on behalf of Trump, as well as in local races. Collins also cited what she said was a conflict between Clinton’s statements about her email scandal, and the statement about the matter from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

While several GOP lawmakers have openly rejected Trump, Scott Rigell became the first House Republican to announce he will vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson in November.

Jennifer Baker, an NRA spokeswoman, said the organization interpreted Trump’s words Tuesday as a “call to action for people who care about this issue to get to the polls”. Nothing makes Donald Trump more angry than being called out for something that he said.
