Trump Takes Lead in Recent CNN Poll
Trump, speaking at the event in Virginia, a state with a large military population, began with a pledge to help female veterans if he wins the November 8 election and also said he would work with Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, to “solve the problem” posed by the Islamic State militant group.

As most Americans celebrated Labor Day this past weekend, the presidential candidates spent the time rallying support in the battleground state of OH where Hillary Clinton’s lead has dropped to about 2 percentage points, according to the latest polls. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian nominee, earned 7 percent of the vote, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein held only 2 percent.
The near tie in the latest CNN/ORC results came in sharp contrast to Mr Clinton’s eight-point lead among registered voters in its early August poll following the Democratic Convention. “Donald Trump is unqualified and temperamentally unfit to serve as president of the United States and America’s commander in chief”.
Clinton also brushed off polls that show the race tightening between her and Trump.
“These issues will be decided after the election”.
Clinton’s camp seized on the comments, using them to highlight Trump’s previous fights with the Gold Star Khan family, his criticism of Fox News host Megyn Kelly and his questioning of President Barack Obama’s birthplace. Trump does best with men, white voters and those who did not go to college.
A CNN poll released today has Mr Trump on 43 percent to Ms Clinton’s 43.
Clinton took questions from reporters on her plane, and bashed Trump over not releasing his tax returns. John McCain, a former Vietnam War POW, a war hero because “he got captured;” and seeming to compare his own “sacrifices” as a hard-working real-estate developer to those of parents who lost a son in combat in Iraq.
Late last week, FBI published scores of pages summarizing interviews with Clinton and her top aides from the recently closed criminal investigation into her use of a private email server in the basement of her NY home. Almost half of those queried say they would vote for the Republican nominee, while 29 per cent say they would vote for Clinton.
In addition to policy, Trump used much of his speech to give a fervent indictment of the ongoing controversy of Clinton’s emails, which he said was “worse than Watergate”.
Trump, who has previously accused the USA central bank of keeping interest rates low to help Democratic President Barack Obama, said on Monday that the Fed has created a “false economy” and that interest rates should change.

The Democratic nominee said she is instead focusing on what she calls Trump’s un-American views on dictators, illegal immigrants and religious tolerance. “He said, ‘I know more about ISIS than the generals do.’ His words are an insult to our people in uniform”. “As an example the single greatest asset I have, according to those that know me, is my temperament”. She also talked about how she is focused on winning Iowa.
