Trump takes national lead with 6-point convention bounce

Fresh off his marathon Republican convention acceptance speech, Donald Trump looked backward Friday, rekindling his feud with onetime chief rival Ted Cruz.

“It would not surprise me to see a very well organized and well funded establishment Republican try to primary him”, said Reed Galen, a GOP strategist who has worked on multiple presidential campaigns, including with Cruz on George W. Bush’s 2000 campaign. In it he refused to endorse Trump and instead, as late-night comic Trevor Noah pointed out, endorsed everyone else.

“Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it”.

“Whether you’re the governor of OH, whether you’re a senator from Texas, or any of the other people that I beat so easily and so badly, you have no choice”, Trump said.

“I think he just identifies problems and things that get people angry, upset or scared”, Sjogren said.

“All I did was point out the fact that on the cover of the National Enquirer there was a picture of him and insane Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast”, the GOP nominee said. “Now Ted never denied that it was his father”. It was a suggestion Trump first floated during their heated primary battle – one that cause Cruz to explode in anger at the real-estate mogul at the time.

Trump turned to justifying how, on the eve of the IN primary, he touted a story IN the National Enquirer tabloid that printed a photo that purported to show Cruz’s father, Rafael, with Lee Harvey Oswald.

“I think Heidi Cruz is a great person”. She said she hadn’t yet decided whether to support him for re-election, comparing it to her decision regarding Trump this year.

“I don’t know why people are upset over saying vote your conscience and vote for the Constitution and vote to stop Hillary”, delegate Chris Daniel said.

Cruz was booed off the stage at GOP convention on Wednesday when he declined to endorse Trump during his speech.

If Cruz was indeed relaxing at home watching the speech, he saw what came next: Trump again attacked Cruz’s father. “I’ve got to digest it, see what he told us today”. To me, not signing a pledge is dishonorable, okay?

Trump went on to dispute, lengthily, Cruz’s claims that the businessman insulted his wife and suggested that his father had something to do with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The ad was put out by a PAC with no official ties to the Cruz campaign, but Trump said Friday that he doesn’t buy that.
