Trump taunts GOP, refusing to back Ryan, McCain
Priebus called several Trump staffers, including campaign manager Paul Manafort, to express his “extreme displeasure” with Trump’s comments, the source with knowledge of the conversations told NBC News.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Trump refused to endorse Ryan, using language very similar to that employed by Ryan before he made a decision to endorse the GOP presidential candidate.
Trump, who has said his business success qualifies him to lead the country, defended his record running his hotel and casino business in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
“We need loyal people in this country”, Trump added in the interview. “The question I think that they have to ask themselves is, if you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable: Why are you still endorsing him” Obama, a Democrat, said at a White House news conference with Singapore’s prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong.
“Well, to be perfectly candid with you, Jake, I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not quite there yet”.
Grand said that Pence has vouched frequently to donors and prominent Republicans about “the real Donald Trump”. Trump tells the Post he’s “not quite there yet” when it comes to backing Ryan. Ryan eventually endorsed the GOP nominee.
Ryan is facing a primary challenge from fellow Republican Paul Nehlen, whom Trump thanked and praised on Twitter Monday.
“I like Paul (Ryan), but these are awful times for our country”, Trump said, adding that the USA needs “very, very strong leadership”. His sacrifice – and that of Khizr and Ghazala Khan – should always be honored. The congressman, who has endorsed Trump but asked not to be identified in order to speak freely, said supporting Trump is now more hard given his criticism of the Khan family.
Nehlen has accused Ryan of supporting illegal immigration, saying Ryan favors open borders.
In making his comments Tuesday, Trump may have been seeking retribution for Ryan’s dragging his feet about endorsing Trump in May.
Saying Trump “needs to do more to unify this party”, Ryan initially withheld an endorsement of Trump. “I’m not there right now”.
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, told CBS News on Tuesday that his father’s comments toward the Khans have been “blown hugely out of proportion”.
Any notion that Ryan’s endorsement would tamp down Trump’s rhetoric proved to be terribly mistaken. He has said he will support Trump, but has spoken out against him on this issue and others.
“I love babies. I hear that baby cry, I like it”, he said. You will see all faiths, genders and ethnicities.
“Donald Trump and I believe that Captain Humayun Khan is an American hero and his family, like all Gold Star families, should be cherished by every American”, Pence said in his statement. How ironic it would be if the repayment for the Party Men’s devotion was as much contempt from Trump as they’ve drawn from #NeverTrump conservatives-or worse, if after giving one-way fealty to their party’s nominee, they lost their elections anyway.
Trump, who previous year mocked the Vietnam prisoner of war for being “captured”, said to the Post, “I’ve never been there with John McCain because I’ve always felt that he should have done a much better job for the vets”. “He has not done a good job for the vets and I’ve always felt that he should have done a much better job for the vets”. “Our vets are not being treated properly. They have been treated so badly for so long that it is about time for politicians to put them first!”

Ryan’s primary election in Wisconsin is scheduled for August 9, while McCain’s Senate primary in Arizona is scheduled for August 30.
