Trump tells Republicans to ‘stop wasting time on immigration’
Trump has said he does not want to see families separated, but noted that he was encouraged to fix the situation on the border at the urging of first lady Melania Trump and his daughter, Ivanka.

“You just fear that tweet in the morning”, said Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida.
Others, particularly conservative Republicans who don’t support the immigration deal, said Trump’s actions should come as no surprise. They are immigrants brought to the country illegally as children.
The US leader tweeted Sunday that the US “cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country”.
Trump then tweeted that the United States immigration policy was “laughed at all over the worked” and that it was unfair to those who had waited for years to get a citizenship.
In the last week, the Trump administration triggered bipartisan backlash by implementing a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal border crossings, charging all individuals who cross the border illegally with unlawful entry.
Although many Democrats and media members were swift to pin the blame for the family separations exclusively on the Trump administration, Johnson argued that “this mess goes back decades”. The order seeks to keep families together in detention instead of separating them while their legal cases are heard by the courts.
Ivanka Trump listens during a meeting between President Trump and Republican members of Congress on immigration in the Cabinet Room of the White House on June 20. A mother with a young child who faced threats from gangs and asks for asylum in the US should not be rejected without a hearing, she said.
He also once against blamed Democrats for the country’s immigration problems, urging them to not “resist” and instead strengthen security at the us border.
Despite that tweet, Trump then continued to talk about immigration in subsequent following tweets.
Just Tuesday, he met privately with GOP lawmakers and told them he supported the immigration legislation and would have their backs in November.
Trump told fellow Republicans in Congress to “stop wasting their time” on immigration legislation until after the November elections. Democrats blame the president’s fixation on a border wall and sweeping changes to legal immigration programmes.
“I think that the best way to pass legislation is to consistently support a position and help move it forward”, Rep. Greg Walden of OR, a senior House Republican.
Trump reversed the policy with an executive order this week, but confusion about how it will be implemented, and how quickly the government could switch gears, has left the issue unsettled. “We asked the commission to immediately require the USA government to reunite these families and stop this inhumane and illegal practice”.
Late Saturday night, the Trump administration released a “fact sheet” noting more than 2,000 children have yet to be reunited with their parents and revealing some details about the reunification process.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the more moderate Republican bill is “a compromise with the devil”.
