Trump to black voters: ‘What the hell do you have to lose?’

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has made a direct appeal to African-Americans to abandon the Democratic party and vote for him.

Many can not forget Trump’s insistence during the 2012 election that President Barack Obama, the nation’s first black president, was foreign born and therefore unqualified for the White House.

“If you keep voting for the same people, you will keep getting exactly the same result”, Trump said.

Trump also predicted he would receive 95 per cent of the African-American vote if he went to on to run for a second term in 2020.

The reality is that Hillary Clinton is going to win ninety percent plus support from the African-American community. The Republican Party nominee’s appeal to the African-American community was made to an overwhelmingly white audience in MI on Friday (19 August) evening. Gerald Ford won the highest percentage of black voters in his race – 17 percent.

Current polls showed about 2 per cent of black voters say they will vote for the NY real estate developer.

Trump delivered the message in front of a mostly white crowd.

Hillary Clinton dismissed the NY billionaire’s appeal as “so ignorant it’s staggering”.

African Americans have overwhelmingly identified as Democrats since the 1950s.

The Friday address was the third time this week that Mr Trump sought to attract African American voters.

The Clinton campaign’s Director of States/Political Engagement Marlon Marshall also tweeted, “Trump painting the entire African American community as living in poverty with no jobs shows he’s completely out of touch with us”.

Nevertheless, the strategy of Mr Trump perplexed many commentators on Twitter in courting these voters.

“This is Trump’s SALES PITCH to black voters, apparently”. Trump has been pulling a zero in state level polls for months now.
