A statement from Clinton’s campaign in New Hampshire simply said “Hillary Clinton will return to New Hampshire on Tuesday, July 12 to discuss her commitment to building an America that is stronger together and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top”.

Her plan would phase in over several years according to her campaign website and would initially cover students whose families make $85,000 a year or less. Then that family income threshold will increase by $10,000 each year until it hits $125,000.

During the heat of the presidential primary, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton had a fairly substantial debate over whether Democrats should seek to eliminate tuition at public four-year colleges or merely make them low-cost enough for students to attend without borrowing.

Sanders was reportedly booed Thursday during a private meeting with House Democrats who were angry at him for withholding his endorsement.
