Trump topping Clinton in upstate NY poll
On the other side, a CNN/ORC poll claims that Hillary Clinton’s support is up two points from June, totaling 49%, while Donald Trump is at 42% among registered voters nationally. Each candidate drew 40 percent of the vote, compared with the 6 percentage point lead enjoyed by Clinton in last month’s survey, the poll showed.

The poll’s results on race relations will release at 5 p.m. ET today, and the poll, in partnership with Telemundo, looks at an oversample of Latino voters, releasing today at noon.
Clinton also had an edge among independent voters (41 percent to 35 percent) who are not enrolled in a political party.
Those numbers are unchanged from one month ago with the poll conducted after FBI Director James Comey strongly rebuked Clinton over her email practices even though he determined that she had not committed a crime.
New York State voters approve 62-29 percent of the job Schumer is doing and give him a 57-25 percent favorability rating. This marks an insignificant change from her 41% to 36% lead in these states last month. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. “The next two weeks will be crucial to determining which direction this trend goes”.
The poll was also conducted before Trump selected Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his vice-presidential running mate. Bernie Sanders’ endorsement would get them to back Clinton.
Over half (52 percent) of respondents said they oppose Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims who are not USA citizens entering the United States.
In the ABC/Post poll, 64 percent viewed Trump unfavorably and 54 percent said the same about Clinton.
Trump’s wife Melania and his four adult children are set to speak at the convention, looking to present the man they know as the best choice to be the American leader when President Barack Obama leaves office next January after two terms in the White House.
Presidential nominees typically see a boost in voter support following their party conventions. Neither candidate has a majority of support and each has negative favorability ratings.
The reasons for Clinton’s slump were not entirely clear, but could be related to the racial unrest following the Dallas sniper slayings of five police officers, which may benefit the self-proclaimed “law and order” campaign of Donald Trump.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaks at the 87th League of United Latin American Citizens National Convention at the Washington Hilton in Washington, July 14, 2016. Some 32 percent say that Trump has the right temperament for the job while 61 percent.
