Trump Trashed at the Emmy Awards

Even though Game of Thrones has been a huge hit with viewers, it took the series a long time to win the award for Outstanding Drama Series.

Fantasy drama series “Game of Thrones” and comedy “Veep” proved repeat winners for cable giant HBO at the Emmy awards on Sunday, but newcomers and actors of color also made their mark in a ceremony where election-year politics played large.

The turnout compares unfavorably to the Emmys’ recent high in 2013, when 17.6 million tuned it to see Modern Family and Breaking Bad win the top awards. The second season is on the US network website and streaming app.

“This is a historic night for FX Networks, one we share with an unbelievably talented group of artists who join us in pushing the limits on what television can achieve”, said John Landgraf, CEO FX Networks and FX Productions. He is “other-izing” people.

The People v OJ Simpson, a dramatic retelling of the football star’s murder trial, was named best limited series, also earning awards for stars Courtney B Vance, Sterling K Brown and Sarah Paulson.

Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) both won their first Emmys for leads in drama series, while fan favorites Game of Thrones and Veep won Outstanding Series in Drama and Comedy, respectively.

Maggie Smith accepted her Emmy award with grace, class and a sense of humor on Monday.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to personally apologize for the current political climate. I think we are there now”.

Regina King won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her work on American Crime.

Maggie Smith won an Emmy on Sunday for her role on “Downton Abbey”.
