Trump tries to walk back Obama-ISIS comments
“Donald Trump has shown that he lies every single day and then the next day he just tries to claim it was sarcasm“, he told CNN’s Brianna Keilar on “New Day”. That’s out of context.

“This is another example of Donald Trump trash-talking the United States”, Clinton’s senior policy adviser Jake Sullivan said in a statement. Some Republicans seem to have the same concern. Now he’s saying that President Obama is the founder of ISIS. As Trump repeated the claim more than a dozen times, interviewers sought to ensure Trump wasn’t being misconstrued.
Only hours before, the billionaire businessman had restated the allegation with no mention of sarcasm, telling rally-goers in Kissimmee, Florida, that “I’ve been saying that Barack Obama is the founder”.
McCaskill said Sunday that Trump’s comments relating to ISIS are “disrespectful to the military that is out there fighting ISIS everyday”. In December, Trump released a four-paragraph letter from his personal doctor stating that a recent medical examination “showed only positive results” but didn’t get into much detail.
Or was he being sarcastic about the sarcasm?
You know what – I think we should fact check that.
“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks”, the GOP presidential nominee said while discussing what would happen if Clinton was elected on Tuesday.
Updated at 11:49 a.m.to include reaction from Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
“That’s what normal candidates do”, he went on. “He calls it ISIL because nobody else does and he probably wants to bother people by using another term, whether it’s more accurate or not”. She’s hammered him for avoiding accountability for his actions.
Trump first made the comments about Obama founding ISIS in a Wednesday speech, referring to president by including his middle name, “Barack Hussein Obama”.
The explanation belies the power of words uttered by candidates with committed followers, he said. But Trump is making it worse.
Clinton’s campaign has cried foul and accused Trump of mimicking Russian President Vladimir Putin’s talking points, and the Democratic Party had asked for an apology.
In Utah, typically a reliably Republican state, Mr Trump’s challenges have been particularly striking.
It wasn’t immediately clear why Trump altered course Friday and said the whole notion was sarcastic.
Later Friday morning, Trump reiterated these sentiments in a video message.

Republican sources earlier this month said Priebus was furious over Trump’s failure to endorse House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan and his feud with the parents of a Muslim American soldier killed in Iraq.
