Trump trolls Cruz by playing ‘Born in the USA’ at rallies
A constitutional law professor says Ted Cruz, one of the top Republican presidential candidates, is not actually eligible to take office even if he won.

She noted that Cruz is a US citizen despite being born in Canada because his mother is an American and a statue from Congress provides for the naturalization of children born overseas to citizens.
Donald Trump’s presidential rallies now feature the blaring sounds of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the United States of America”, a not-so-subtle dig at his closest rival, Texas Sen. The Senate went so far as to pass a nonbinding resolution “recognizing that John Sidney McCain, III, is a natural born citizen”. But the fact that Trump is ahead nationally and that he is running first or second in Iowa and New Hampshire is meaningful, argues Sam Wang of the Princeton Election Consortium. “We’ll have a nominee, hopefully, by sometime in the spring”. Republican Caucus participants give Cruz better grades than Trump on most character issues. “I don’t know how you solve it without going to court”. It depends. Does “natural born” mean born-to-the-land, then he’s not. “In that case, he’s not”.
“I like Donald Trump, I respect Donald Trump, he’s welcome to toss whatever attacks he wants”, Cruz told reporters Saturday night. “I’m just saying, in my opinion, and you already seen it – the Democrats are going to bring a lawsuit. He’s got to have this thing worked out”. Cruz should be deemed unsuitable for the presidency because of his wrongheaded ultra-right-wing views and his unsafe political ruthlessness, not because his American mother happened to be living in Canada when he was born. “And according to him, it’s a real question mark”, Trump said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press”. The father became a Canadian citizen, as Rafael Cruz told NPR in 2013. “That kind of suggests maybe something has changed in the race”.
“You have millions of people that are waiting in line to come into this country and they’re waiting to come in legally”, Trump said at the time. We’re pretty much tied with Ted Cruz and we’ll talk about that.
The Iowa caucuses are three weeks away on February 1st. You think at least one person would have a photo or video of this incident.
“At the end”, Castellanos said, “Republicans may face the devil’s bargain and have to settle for the lesser of two anti-establishment evils”.
Trump also accused Cruz of being in US oil companies pockets’. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) in third place at 13%.
“You can’t have a nominee who is going to be subject to being thrown out as the nominee”, Trump said.
There is little evidence of widespread alarm from establishment Republican leaders and their well-funded supporters. As he did earlier this week, Trump offered Cruz some free legal advice.
Mr. Trump also claimed that this term has not been adjudicated, advising Cruz to seek a judgement.

Cruz received the highest favorability rating of any candidate, 69 percent to 18 percent unfavorable, compared to Trump’s 54 percent favorable to 34 percent unfavorable rating. “And it seems the Hillary folks are very eager to support Donald Trump and the attacks that are being tossed my direction”.
