“How you handle people isn’t different, it’s just on a larger scale”, said Sean Swain, a spokesman for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, which staffed a Trump rally in North Carolina where a protester was sucker-punched by a Trump supporter.
At a Las Vegas rally late a year ago, a group of Trump supporters screamed that someone should light a protester on fire, “kick his a-” and “shoot him”, while another person in the crowd shouted “sieg heil”, a Nazi salute.
As he campaigned in John Kasich’s home state, Trump took on the OH governor.
“What the folks who are running for office should be focused on is how we can make it even better – not insults and schoolyard taunts and manufacturing facts, not divisiveness along the lines of race and faith”.
“Trump has no record and is unprepared to lead the country”, said Herminio Orizondo, a Cuban-American Rubio supporter from Orlando. Rubio said he’s now consumed by his attempts to beat Trump in his home state despite trailing in polls, which he said aren’t an accurate reflection of the race. Trump, Cruz said, supports the “same basic trajectory” of policy as Obama and Hillary Clinton, when Obama’s first secretary of state, have established.
Trump said he didn’t condone the violence, but the next day in St. Louis, the candidate repeatedly complained about how “gentle” his protesters were being treated.
“There’s the one you see on the stage and there’s the one who’s very cerebral, sits there, you can have a very good conversation with him, and that’s the Donald Trump that you’re going to start seeing more and more of right now”.
“I thought they were going to be more civil, but I didn’t think they were going to pass up as many opportunities as they did to differentiate themselves from each other”, Tapper told The Times after the debate.
“You know, math doesn’t tell the whole story in politics”, Kasich said as he largely dodged the question. The March 15 primaries could be the last gasp for those hoping to stop the GOP delegate leader. “Nobody’s been hurt at our rallies”, Mr Trump told CNN late on Friday, one of several interviews he did as cable networks broadcast footage of the skirmishes both inside and outside the Chicago arena where he had planned to speak.
Trump has ramped up his attacks against Kasich in recent days ahead of Tuesday’s presidential primary in the state.
But after 24 primary contests, Trump has only grown stronger and leads his rivals in the all-important delegate count.
Conversely, Rubio said that any Floridian who votes for Kasich or for Ted Cruz is essentially voting for Trump.
Donald Trump spoke to thousands of supports in Cleveland on Saturday at the IX Center.
Republican leaders are grasping for a last-ditch idea to stop Mr Trump from claiming the nomination, from talking about a contested convention to discussing whether to rally around a yet-to-be-determined third-party candidate.

Police say five people were arrested at the event, but the charges have not yet been released.
