Trump unveils $20 Billion plan to help minorities find better schools

This includes private schools, traditional public schools, magnet schools and charter schools which must be included in any definition of school choice.

“My job will be to ensure that any American, African-American, Hispanic, anyone, will be placed on the ladder to success”, Trump said.

The stop here marked Trump’s latest attempt to reach out to African-Americans, as polls show Clinton holding a wide lead among black and other minority voters. Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, supported many school choice initiatives during his time as IN governor.

On its website, the school claimed to be the top-ranked charter in OH for “value-added”, a measure of academic growth, referring to a 2014 report produced by a nonprofit organization, Battelle for Kids.

While the details of his plan will be dissected in the coming days, it is important to not lose sight of the big picture: Donald Trump wants to end the government education monopoly and empower parents and their children.

It also wasn’t clear what would happen to states and schools that received federal money under Trump’s plan but didn’t adopt the choice policies he said were required.

He said states would be offered incentives to participate and believed the program would help OH which has a big and controversial charter school program.

The subject of school vouchers and school choice has been at the center of a lengthy lawsuit from the Florida Education Association, which sued over the state’s Tax Credit Scholarship Program for those same reasons.

Pressed Thursday by CNN on that praise for the invasion, Trump retorted, “You know what that meant”.

He also cited what he said was a March 25, 2003, interview.

Trump naturally lashed out at the “terribly dishonest” media for calling him out on this.

Before launching into his speech, Trump thanked Ron Packard, who is the CEO of Panosophic Learning, an education company that operates virtual and brick-and-mortar schools.

It is chartered by the Ohio Council of Community Schools, which is designated as the chartering agency by the University of Toledo.

“Donald Trump isn’t serious about doing what’s best for our students, and he’s clueless about what works”, said Lily Eskelsen García, the president of the NEA.
