Trump wins 5th presidential debate in Las Vegas
Last week, many Republican lawmakers denounced Trump’s call for a ban on allowing Muslims to enter the US and tried to distance themselves from his candidacy. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) drawing stark contrasts on immigration and national security. How did he talk about that today? He’s not as polished as Rubio, but he makes up for it with certitude. He declared, “I have never supported legalization and I do not intend to support legalization”.

“But what’s so interesting is what it led to today”, he continued. And the answer better not be because we took away a valuable tool in the toolbox. The dream stays alive for a big New Hampshire bump.
MCCAMMON: Well, arguably, he hasn’t been that visible. “I wouldn’t second guess the superintendent making the decision”. Then we’re heading back to Iowa tonight, where he will be campaigning tomorrow, trying to break through in these critical early states. And Rubio is spending the next several days campaigning in Iowa.
Cruz’s trip is driven in part by simple math, since the Super Tuesday states offer a trove of delegates that will be required to win the nomination at the party’s mid-July convention in Cleveland. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio got the spotlight about half as much, the firm said. That didn’t entirely play out in the debate – right? – that they more or less played nice with each other.
The top trending questions for the other Republican candidates are personal as well as political. “I think it’s a negative”.
But Rubio isn’t letting up, saying Thursday that Cruz shouldn’t get a free pass on the amendment to grant legal status because of his explanation of legislative maneuvering. You know, they’re both senators from southern states with parents who immigrated from Cuba, but Cruz is unpopular in his own party, including among his colleagues in the Senate.
“Well, I think if you’re in favor of World War Three, you have your candidate. It sounds like what he’s outlining is not to lead at all”, Rubio said. Well, that’s fine, but you have to have something to do that with. He again blasted Cruz yesterday and pushed for the U.S.to empower “non-jihadis” on the ground in Syria and bring to a quick end the instability in Libya to prevent more Islamic terrorists from filling the leadership void.
“You can’t carpet bomb ISIS if you don’t have planes or bombs to attack them with”, he said. “It’s easy”, Rubio said, reminding the audience of Cruz’s comment that as president he would bomb Middle East terrorist groups so relentlessly that he would find out if sand glows in the dark.
CORNISH: Sarah, in the time we have left, what have you heard from voters in the aftermath of this debate?
“I don’t know about an alliance”, Lewandowski said.

As nine Republican presidential aspirants in their fifth and final debate scrabbled for the pole position ahead of primaries, majority were united in pandering to the fear of Islamism that has gripped the U.S after the recent terror strikes in Paris and California.
