Trump wins Christie’s support in race laced with insults
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has endorsed Donald Trump for the USA presidency, a major development that gives the Republican frontrunner a significant boost. Trump is often lumped together with Cruz as an “anti-establishment” candidate, while Christie and his fellow governors like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (who has also dropped out of the race) and Ohio Gov. John Kasich have been considered “establishment” candidates.

Christie, who was a candidate for president himself, told American voters on Friday that no one is better prepared to lead the country than Trump. Endorsing Trump thrusts Christie back into the national conversation in a way that he never was during his campaign and that a more traditional endorsement ever could.
“He’s a businessman. I’m a businessman”, LePage said.
Another primary rival and the senator of the state where this all took place – Ted Cruz – was hardly mentioned in the war of words between Trump and Rubio. “I am really proud to receive the support of the Governor and his family”, Trump said. Christie memorably attacked the freshman senator at the final Republican debate before the New Hampshire primary, tripping up Rubio in a moment that likely contributed to his poor performance in the state’s primary.
For his part, Trump praised Christie for skewering Rubio at that earlier debate.
“He left me a message saying, ‘I want to talk to you, ‘” Hogan said after transportation event in Prince Fredrick. I think there’s something there. We have had a wonderful relationship for many years. Marco Rubio, who repeatedly got under Trump’s skin during Thursday night’s GOP debate, spurring him to vent his frustrations in a series of typo-laden tweets. “Once a choker, always a choker”, Trump said. “But I don’t believe his endorsement of Donald Trump says much of anything about why I chose to endorse him”.

At roughly the same time in Texas, Trump drew cheers after sharing his own backstage encounter with Rubio: “He was putting on makeup with a trowel”, Trump said. And after Trump called for a temporary ban on foreign Muslims entering the U.S., Christie said, “This is the kind of thing that people say when they have no experience and don’t know what they’re talking about”. Christie has denied any knowledge, and a state-financed investigation cleared him.
