Trump Would Be ‘Foolish’ To Release Tax Returns, Son Says

Eric Boehlert of Media Matters points out that no nominee for president in 40 years has refused to release tax returns, and Trump’s claim that he is not permitted to release his taxes while he is being audited has already been debunked, many times. “You just don’t do that during that time”, Eric Trump said Wednesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box”. Despite repeated calls from both sides of the aisle for Trump to release his taxes, the GOP nominee has falsely maintained that he can not release his taxes while they are subject to an Internal Revenue Service audit.

“It would be foolish to do, and honestly, I’m actually the biggest proponent of not doing it because he’s under a standard audit”.

“I think he should release his tax returns immediately”, he said, echoing Clinton’s remarks from earlier today.

Now, Trump is facing even more scrutiny, as his informal adviser and friend, political consultant Roger Stone, has joined in calls for the tax returns to be released.

Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed he can not release his tax returns because he’s now under audit, and his son backed his argument with a specious one of his own.

Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate, released a financial disclosure report last week and said that he intends to release his tax returns, according to the Journal. “If you released his tax returns, you would clearly see that.’ I’m sitting there, are you guys kidding me?” he said.
